A synthetic injectable solution used to precipitate and accelerate normal parturition and postpartum evacuation of uterine debris in cattle, sheep & goats, pigs, horses, dogs and cats.
Intertocine-S is indicated to precipitate and accelerate normal parturition and postpartum evacuation of uterine debris, in cases such as uterine inertia, uterine bleeding, expulsion of the placenta and agalactia postpartum. It may be used post-operatively following Caesarean section to facilitate involution and resistance to the large inflow of blood.
Dystocia due to obstruction or non-dilated cervix. Excessive doses of Intertocine-S may delay parturition by producing un-coordinated uterine contractions, which interfere with the progress of the foetus, especially in multiple pregnancies.
For intramuscular or subcutaneous injection repeated after 40 minutes if necessary.
Dose rates/directions for use:
1 – 5ml
For quick effect inject intravenously at a quarter of the dosage diluted 1 in 10 with water for injection and administer slowly.
By any route, and especially when used during parturition, low initial dosage is recommended as repeat administration is permissible. In post-parturient animals’ large doses may be employed.
