A freeze-dried preparation of live Brucella melitensis Rev. I bacteria for the prophylactic immunisation of ram lambs against Brucella ovis.

Indications:

B. ovis: For the prevention of epididymitis due to B. ovis the vaccine should be administered to ram lambs at 2 to
4 months of age. It is not necessary to vaccinate ewes. Goats do not develop B. ovis infections and should not be vaccinated for this purpose.
B. melitensis: This is a rare condition of sheep and goats, limited at present to the northern areas of Namibia and possibly areas of the Northern Province and Mpumalanga. Lambs of both sexes should be inoculated at 2 to 4 months of age.

Application Rate

Sheep & Goats Application:

For subcutaneous injection.

Dose rates/directions for use:
Use only as directed.
Sterilise syringes and needles by boiling in water for at least 15 minutes. Do not use disinfectants or methylated spirits for sterilising either syringes or needles. Use a separate needle for each animal. The active ingredient of the vaccine is in the form of a powder or pellet in a small bottle. By means of a sterile syringe, transfer approximately 5 ml of sterile diluent provided to the bottle containing the freeze-dried vaccine. Mix until the powder is dissolved and then transfer this suspension back into the remaining sterile diluent and mix well to suspend evenly. The
vaccine is now ready for use and must be used immediately. Keep the vaccine cool and avoid exposure to high temperatures and direct sunlight. Shake the bottle well before use.

DOSAGE: 2 ml subcutaneously
